Through the Breakaway Ministry on the campus of Texas A&M University, while Scot was a brand new freshman, the gospel of Jesus Christ became real, alive and active in a dramatic way. With an immediate calling to ministry Scot began serving a local church in Bryan, Texas. Since then, and never more true than today, after Jesus and his family, Scot’s overriding passion and burden is the vitality and health of the local church. During and after his undergraduate, Scot served in student ministry for over a decade. He then completed a Masters of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary while at Faith Bible Church in The Woodlands, Texas, where he eventually served as Teaching and Lead Pastor for over twelve years. During a season of itinerant preaching and consultation, Scot joined the staff of Reach Church in Kirkland, Washington as the Interim Teaching Pastor. Commuting multiple times a month, Scot preached, led a larger preaching team, discipled young men, pastored and assisted the staff and elders with work and projects on multiple fronts. It was during the second half of these two years that Scot discerned a call to plant a new church at home in Conroe, TX. Grace House was born. Scot has been in love with Liza, his wife, and married since 2000. They have two adult children, Andrew and Izzy, who both enjoy serving the Grace House family with mom and dad. This team of amazing couples and families started gathering for prayer in the fall of 2024, asking God to lead, guide, heal, move and provide all that was necessary for a new gathering of followers of Jesus in the fastest growing city in America at that time, Conroe, Texas. Each of them have deployed their spiritual gifts and passions to create a culture of warmth, expectation and community for current believers, tired and hurting Christians, the de-churched, the un-churched and those yet on the outside of faith in Jesus. Together, from day one, our team has loved each other, sought the presence of God, and wholeheartedly owned the vision of Grace House. They are a heroic, sacrificial, generous, faithful band of worshippers from multiple generations and stages of life. Yet we are one. As we began meeting on Sundays in January of 2025, they found and created places to serve and love and give. Under the sovereign love and care and provision of God, this team has put flesh and bones to His calling for Grace House. And it’s been a magnificent sight to see each week.
