hello!

It feels a little strange (and a bit cliche) to thank you for reading this. But thanks. These days, a church website and its vibe are the same as a physical building and steeple were a few decades ago. It’s typically how people get a “feel” for the church family, its culture and story. So, as much as we can do that here, we will. There’s much to see and read, and much more coming. And before you get on with that, let me say that Grace House is a brand new family of Jesus followers that are working through the hard journey of loving each other well, making a difference in our world, and pursuing Jesus together. This is what the church is and does.

So why another church? Let me also say that Grace House does not purpose to be different for the sake of being different. In fact, with the church of Jesus Christ, the Scriptures, orthodox theology and church history, novelty is not a great thing. What we feel called to is a happily collaborative and cooperative effort with the many incredible churches in our area. Our specific calling is at least partially captured in the phrase “an old kind of new church.” By this we mean a return to the simple, biblical, ancient values of slow, purposeful pursuit of Jesus inside a family. It’s who we want to be. So at Grace House we spend a lot of time around a table enjoying food. There are lots of kids, young and old. The presence of God is both our goal and our reality. Prayer is the language school of our apprenticeship of Jesus, and we engage it joyfully and often. Okay, that’s enough for now. Just wanted you to hear the heart up front.

presence. formation. resolve.

Our values are pretty simple and they will stay that way. Our values will not be found printed on a wall, but lived out in the interactions and expectations of our family.

The first is presence. We want to encounter the presence of the Living God together, not just on Sundays as we gather, but everyday and everywhere we go.

Next is formation. We take seriously and intentionally pursue our growth into the likeness of Jesus Christ. We want to be near Him, become like Him and do as He did. We believe we are all being formed into something, even if that is a design we invented ourselves. But here we don’t just gather in the name of Jesus and call it done. We eagerly pursue formation and discipleship of Jesus every day.

Lastly, we value resolve in this ever changing and difficult world of brokenness, confusion and darkness. Jesus has called us to be cities on a hill, salt, light, transformers and carriers of His grace. This is a call into the fray, into the many spheres of family, civic and professional life.

“The great story of the Scriptures is an epic treasure hunt — and the treasure is the perfect presence of God.”
